of course the x800x is going to be better than a plain jane 6800
I should hve been more specific.
If you go to tom's hardware you can see the bench tests where the 6600gts
and 68000s actually did wipe the floor with the 9800's
Of course the x800x is better is you have a small fortune to spend but if you don't the 6600gt or 6800 are the best for the money.
And i can say this objectively cause i had a 9800 pro and got rid of it for the geforce cause i just wasn't satisfied
|
I only mentioned the 6800GT and X800XTPE because those are what I happen to own. And I said each has their strengths. Can you please be more objective?
Why are you comparing Nvidia's new generation 6000 series cards to ATI's older generation 9000 series? Go and check the comparison between ATI's X800XL versus the 6800GT if you want. The X800XL costs less than Nvidia's 6800GT and performs almost on par if not the same depending what you read.

As someone who's used most of the mainstream graphics cards (Nvidia and ATI) in the mid-range and high-end spectrums, I'd personally say that most Nvidia cards perform much better than their ATI counterparts.
My exceptions list:
Radeon X800 XT PE (Nvidia really doesn't have a counterpart)
Radeon 9600 XT (best in its class)
I'd make a special mention for the 9800 Pro, but it's pricetag is too close to that of the 6600GT to say it's any value for money anymore.

Ladies and gentlemen, I ask do we REALLY need another strength/weakness of card thread? We already have enough flaming over loyalties...
I'm watching this. I personally think this should have been taken to PM, but it's civil. As such, it stays. Two mods have seen this, so know it's watched.

i just stated an opinion and got called a fanboy and a nvidiot. So i don't know about civil guess they could have used 4 letter words
http://www1.graphics.tomshardware.co...charts-04.html
but if you look the x800 xt beat the 6800 ultra (same price range)
6800gt outproforms the x800pro (same price range)
6800 beat out 9800xt (same price range)
This is not that i like one more than the other it that i had both and the 6800 works better in my opinion
and i can admit the ultra got beat by the x800 xt and if i had that kind of money to burn i would prob go ati there.
But there is no reason to call names just state your case and show some facts and maybe people who have no idea about any of this will learn something tx

You're still civil, so no probs.
I know Tom of THG though, and he's biased as hell. Always check his with say www.bit-tech.net or www.pimprig.com, or even www.hardocp.com, they're always better on the truth...

Once again Principa hits it dead on.
I used ATI cards for many years, and I was in denial that Nvidia was better. Finally when I got my new computer I went for the GE Force 6800 Pci-E 256mb card. I LOVE it, it works amazingly for me.

Maybe Tom should update this site:
6800gt does not out perform X800XL(same price range, X800XL slightly cheaper)
http://techreport.com/reviews/2004q4.../index.x?pg=13
6800 does not outperform X800(plain jane, same price range, X800 cheaper)
